| New Type of Shopaholic:
Grocery Shopping Addicts – CoverUps.com

Many wretched people now suffer the throes of addiction to Grocery Shopping and would no sooner walk past a line of parked carts than an alcoholic would walk into a liquor store. |
BAKERSFIELD, CA - It is clear to see that many people suffer from shopping addiction. Frequent trips to the mall along with maxed out credit cards are a part of many peoples lives. Although women are most likely to suffer from this obsession with shopping and finding the best deal, many men also run up quite a bit of debt, but on different types of items. This epidemic is found in every state and is ruining many lives.
But it gets worse, because studies have shown that there is a new kind of shopping addiction, but in a place no one expects. Grocery shopping for most is a chore. But supposedly, 4% of the population has been labeled Grocery Shopping Addicts.

The rush that addicted shoppers experience is said to have more than double the effect that those typical shopaholics get.
Scientists have yet to find out why. |
The group that conducted the study, which refuses to be named at this point in time, due to fear of ridicule, released this statement:
We have found that shopping for things like meat, apples, bread, shampoo, the nessesities, can be far more addictive than shopping for simple pleasures. You only buy a big screen TV once every ten years or so, but groceries are a weekly endeavor. It can be a very dangerous addiction because eventually you have over loaded fridges, food waste, along with obesity due from too much food always being there. People are buying substinence they don't need. And this is a major factor in America's weight problem. It is also putting people in financial distress because they don't know they have a problem, people don't usually cut back on "nessesities."

The unnamed group told CoverUps.com that women were the dominant sufferer in a typical family, for the simple reason that they do most of the grocery shopping.
Do not be fooled by the smile on this woman's face. She is an addict on the road to perdition. |
CoverUps.com contacted some major grocery chains to get their thoughts, and they scoffed at the idea. Jim Jenkins of Albertsons told us, "It is simply ridiculous. People are the MOST stingy with the amount of money they spend at the market. They throw fits over thirty cents, it's a whole different ball game and I refuse to take any responsiblity for people's over-spending. The grocery industry is NOT McDonald's."
Many fear that Jenkin's fears could become reality. Ten years ago no one even dreamed of suing McDonald's for their weight problems. It's just a slippery slope until the accusations reach the club cards industry.
